Teltonika RUT204 (RUT2040AAAA0), CAN Bus LTE Router for Industry and Transport

The Teltonika RUT204 is a compact industrial LTE router with a native CAN Bus interface. It connects machines, vehicles and systems directly to cloud platforms and is ideally suited for fleet management, energy utilities, smart city applications and industrial automation. The rugged anodized aluminum housing and wide-range power input from 9 to 57 VDC make it ready for harsh environments from -40 to +75 degrees C.

Mobile Connectivity and Dual SIM

The RUT204 supports 4G LTE Cat 4 with download speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s and automatically falls back to 3G or 2G. Two internal SIM slots (Mini-SIM 2FF) enable automatic SIM switching on weak signal, data limit, roaming or network failure. Auto-APN simplifies commissioning.

Native CAN Bus

Via the integrated CAN Bus connection on the 6-pin terminal block, the RUT204 accesses machine data directly. CAN frames are forwarded over IP networks, greatly simplifying integration with SCADA systems, cloud platforms and local servers.

Serial Interface and GNSS

RS232 (TX/RX) on the same terminal block enables Modbus RTU, Serial over IP and console access. The integrated GNSS module (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS) delivers position data via WebUI, SMS or TAVL/RMS, with geofencing and NTRIP support for high-precision positioning.

Connectivity and Power Supply

Two RJ45 ports (1x WAN, 1x LAN, each 10/100 Mbps) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n, up to 50 clients) cover wired and wireless connections. PoE-in to 802.3af on the LAN port allows powering the device via the network cable. Power consumption is below 2 W at idle and below 3.5 W under load.

Security and VPN

OpenVPN (27 encryption methods), IPsec (IKEv1/v2), WireGuard, ZeroTier, DMVPN and further tunneling protocols secure data communications. Firewall rules, VLAN, 802.1x, a certificate manager and DDoS protection round out the security concept.

Remote Management and IoT Platforms

Teltonika RMS enables zero-touch deployment and centralized device management. FOTA, TR-069, SNMP, MQTT broker, JSON-RPC and integrations with Azure IoT Hub, AWS IoT Core, ThingWorx and Cumulocity are available out of the box.
