The Adeunis ARF8170ARA Dry Contacts is a rugged LoRaWAN sensor for status monitoring and control in industrial, building, and infrastructure environments. Through four freely configurable digital inputs and outputs, it reports state changes, counts switching events, captures operating times, and controls relays or equipment. With its IP68 housing, replaceable battery, and KARE+ compatibility, it is suited for long-term standalone operation and applications that require reliable remote configuration.
The sensor provides four configurable I/O channels at 0-24 V that can be used either as digital inputs for status reporting or as outputs for controlling external equipment. Data transmission can be configured as periodic, event-driven, or both. In Class C mode (with external power supply), near-real-time switching commands via downlink are possible, ideal for remote activation, remote reset, or access control.
The device operates in the EU863-870 frequency band according to LoRaWAN 1.0.4 and supports OTAA, ABP, ADR, and adaptive channel configuration. Data transmission is encrypted with AES-128, and a PIN/PUK protection function secures device access. At startup, the sensor automatically performs a network quality test (LED indication). An optional EPOCH 2013 timestamp is available.
The device is powered by a replaceable 4000 mAh battery or, optionally, by an external power source (4.5-6.5 V, not included) or USB (5 V nominal). With one transmission every four hours, four inputs in default "open" state, and 100 events per day, an operating life of more than 15 years is achievable (SF7 to SF12).
Local configuration is performed conveniently via the Adeunis IoT Configurator. Remote configuration is possible via downlink or through the KARE platform. Firmware updates over-the-air are available via KARE+, allowing devices to be maintained in a structured way even after deployment.
The IP68-certified housing made of EMERGE PC plastic provides reliable protection against dust, moisture, and harsh environmental conditions. The integrated mounting system supports DIN rail, pipe, wall, and clamp mounting. With dimensions of 132 x 62 x 34 mm and a weight of 128 g including battery, the sensor fits into compact switching and terminal cabinets. The connection cable is 70 cm long with 10 cm of stripped wire ends prepared for installation.
Typical applications include door and access monitoring, machine and equipment status reporting, remote activation of devices, recording of operating and downtime, leak and presence detection, as well as fault reporting on elevators, escalators, or refrigeration units. The sensor also serves as a platform for KARE packaged versions such as door contact, double level sensor, water leak spot, and water leak cable.
