The Wirnet iStation M2 is Kerlink's next-generation outdoor LoRaWAN gateway, combining ultra-low power consumption, solar panel compatibility, superior coverage, and effortless installation. Designed and manufactured in France, it is built for Smart Cities, Smart Metering, and Smart Agriculture deployments requiring carrier-grade reliability.
Based on the Semtech SX1302 LoRa Corecell Gateway Reference Design with 2x SX1250, the iStation M2 delivers 10 receive channels: 8CH RX (125 kHz BW, 8x SF5-SF12 demodulators), 1CH RX (250 kHz or 500 kHz, mono SF), and 1CH RX (FSK), plus 1CH TX. Configured TX power ranges from 0 to 27 dBm; receive sensitivity reaches down to -140 dBm. Built-in high-rejection SAW filters and LBT sniffer ensure reliable co-existence in dense RF environments. VSWR measurement and radio auto-diagnostic tools are included.
The M2 offers three backhaul paths: 4G LTE Cat6 or 5G RedCap modem (M.2 format, worldwide coverage) with mini-SIM slot, Ethernet 10/100 Mbps (RJ45, PoE+ Mode A/B, 802.3af/at), and Wi-Fi. Four integrated internal antennas cover main and auxiliary cellular (diversity), GNSS, and Wi-Fi/BLE. One external connector is provided for the LoRa antenna. Auxiliary DC input accepts 10-56 VDC.
The iMX8X Lite processor with 8 GB eMMC and 1 GB LPDDR4 RAM enables local data processing on the gateway. The device runs KerOS - an embedded GNU/Linux based on Yocto LTS and Kernel LTS - with native support for Python3, C/C++, and Shell. Kerlink Common Packet Forwarder (GWMP), Basic Station, and a programmable toolchain are included. The same KerOS software runs across all Kerlink i-Series gateways for infrastructure homogeneity.
Native compatibility with the Kerlink Solar Kit enables fully autonomous off-grid installations. Two kit sizes are available (30 Wp/320 Wh and 80 Wp/640 Wh), providing up to 10 days of autonomy at 100% availability. An internal battery ensures clean application shutdown in case of power failure.
Security is based on a Trustzone firmware architecture including SecureBoot (signed firmware), SecureStorage (keys and certificates in a Trusted Execution Environment), and encrypted backhaul links (OpenVPN/IPsec). The gateway is compliant with the EU RED Delegated Act 2022/30 (RED Cyber). Zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) and Zero-touch maintenance (ZTM) via Kerlink's Wanesy Management Center simplify large-scale rollouts. Certified with CE, FCC, and ISED; further certifications on Kerlink Wiki.
