The Tektelic Kona Photon IoT Gateway is a rugged, fully self-sufficient LoRaWAN gateway designed for outdoor deployment. With an integrated 95W solar panel and built-in battery, it delivers reliable operation in remote locations without grid power, making it ideal for smart agriculture, smart city, and industrial IoT applications.

Solar Power and Energy Independence

The Kona Photon is equipped with a high-performance 95W solar panel and features an internal battery providing up to 50 hours of off-grid operation. This makes it the ideal choice for deployment sites without existing power infrastructure.

LoRaWAN Radio and Connectivity

The gateway supports the EU868 frequency band with 8 receive channels for broad LoRaWAN network coverage. The N-Type antenna connector allows the use of an external LoRaWAN antenna (not included). For backhaul, integrated GPS and 3G/4G antennas are built in; connection of an external 3G/4G antenna is also supported.

Ruggedness and Weather Protection

Rated IP67, the gateway is fully dust-tight and protected against temporary submersion. It is engineered to withstand wind loads of up to 150 km/h and features integrated surge and lightning protection. An operating temperature range of -30 to +65°C makes it suitable for deployments worldwide.

Installation and Dimensions

With dimensions of 970x540x90mm, the Kona Photon is designed for outdoor pole mounting. The weatherproof enclosure integrates the solar panel, battery, gateway electronics, and antennas into a single, installation-ready unit.
