Products description
Milesight UG65-868M-EA (A42868), semi-industrial LoRaWAN indoor gateway with BACnet/IP and IP65
The Milesight UG65 is an 8-channel LoRaWAN gateway for indoor use that keeps working where standard office hardware reaches its limits: plant rooms, underground car parks, loft spaces and sheltered outdoor positions under eaves. With the SX1302 concentrator, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and an IP65 enclosure, it suits building automation, remote meter reading and industrial sensing alike.
Radio and coverage
The UG65 operates in the European EU868 band with eight half or full duplex channels and supports LoRaWAN V1.0 and V1.0.2 in classes A, B and C. Sensitivity is -140 dBm at 292 bps, maximum transmit power is 27 dBm. According to the manufacturer, up to 15 km line of sight and around 2 km in urban environments are achievable. Roughly 2000 class A, B and C end devices can be connected at a 10 minute uplink interval. Alongside two internal antennas, a 50 ohm N-female connector is available for an external LoRaWAN antenna, which makes the difference in basements and plant rooms.
Backhaul and power supply
For backhaul, one RJ45 port with 10/100/1000 Base-T and Wi-Fi to IEEE 802.11 b/g/n in the 2.4 GHz band are available. The Ethernet port supports PoE to 802.3af, so a separate power supply at the mounting position is not required. Alternatively, power the unit through the DC connector with 9 to 24 V or via USB Type-C with 5 V. Typical consumption is 2.9 W, maximum 4.2 W.
Integration into building management and control systems
The embedded network server makes the UG65 independent of an external platform in smaller installations. Sensor data can be passed directly to BMS and PLC systems via MQTT(s), HTTP(s), BACnet/IP, BACnet/SC, Modbus TCP or Modbus RTU over TCP. If you run an external LNS, the gateway works as a packet forwarder towards The Things Stack, ChirpStack, Actility or AWS, among others. A Python SDK and Node-RED are available for your own logic.
Operation, security and management
Management runs through the web interface, CLI via SSH or Telnet, SNMP, HTTP and MQTT API as well as DeviceHub and the Milesight Development Platform. Secure connections are covered by OpenVPN, IPsec, PPTP, L2TP, GRE, DMVPN and WireGuard, plus access control, DMZ, port mapping, MAC binding and filtering rules. A built-in noise analyzer scans the frequency environment and supports site selection before commissioning.
Enclosure and mounting
The PC and ABS enclosure to UL94 V0 is rated IP65 against dust and water jets, weighs 548 g and measures 180 x 110 x 55.5 mm. Operation is possible from -40 to +70 °C, storage from -40 to +85 °C. Mounting options are desktop, wall or pole. The scope of delivery includes power supply, mounting bracket, fixing screws and wall mounting kit.
