Products description
With the ime LoRa-2-GLT Gateway Extended, you have an all-in-one gateway to connect your building management system (BMS) with wireless LoRa sensors via BACnet IP or Modbus. This enriches your BMS with wireless, battery-powered sensors, making it a smart building solution for existing or new BMS installations in locations where wiring is expensive or even impossible, such as in historical buildings.
5 DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES IN THE LORA-2-GLT EXTENDED
The LoRa-2-GLT Extended is essentially a combination of various technologies in one gateway, namely:
LoRaWAN Server. The extended gateway is standardly equipped with a web interface. The internal LoRaWAN server works with an external LoRaWAN gateway (to be purchased separately). This allows you to set up a private LoRa network. Therefore, you do not need a public LoRa or external LoRaWAN server, which eliminates recurring monthly costs.
Payload Converter. The payload conversion of the LoRa sensors is also done by the LoRa-2-GLT Gateway Extended. Therefore, you do not need an external payload conversion server, avoiding monthly costs for the payload conversion server as well.
LoRa, BACnet IP, MQTT, and KNX. These protocols are integrated into the gateway and are configurable via the web interface. They are used to communicate with your LoRa sensors, PLC, BMS, SCADA, or HMI.
Node-RED. Modbus IP, OPC UA, MS Azure, Amazon IoT Hub, and many other protocols are flexibly available via Node-RED to connect to IoT platforms or other systems. Sample flows are provided for this purpose.
Secure VPN. Optionally, we can offer a secure VPN, giving you secure remote access to the LoRa-2-GLT Extended Gateway.
ARCHITECTURE OF THE LORA-2-GLT GATEWAY WITH BACNET
With the ime LoRa-2-GLT Extended solution, you get the benefits of your building management system and the advantages of wireless, battery-powered sensors. This allows you to quickly implement successful smart building solutions. Below, you can see how the solution looks.
HIGH COST SAVINGS THANKS TO THE GATEWAY
The LoRa-2-GLT Gateway Extended is an intelligent device offering many advantages. For example:
Cost Savings: This gateway essentially combines 5 technologies. Therefore, you do not need to purchase these components separately. In your smart building project, you can now use wireless sensors instead of wired sensors. Wiring alone typically costs around €300 per wired sensor. With this solution, you save these costs.
Easy Configuration: This gateway is easily configurable via the intuitive wizard. Therefore, any installer can install the LoRa-2-GLT Extended Gateway themselves, possibly with the help of our test reports.
Connecting I/Os: Wireless LoRa sensors can be connected to transmit data and/or control I/Os. This enables bidirectional communication. Note: Controlling outputs is only possible with LoRa Class C sensors.
Easily Expandable: The solution is flexibly expandable with additional hardware and software functions. For example, with protocols: Modbus, P1, GPIO, and protocols: BACnet, MQTT, Azure IoT Hub, Amazon AWS-MQTT.
COMBINE THE LORA-2-GLT GATEWAY EXTENDED WITH LORA SENSORS
The LoRa-2-GLT Gateway Extended works with all LoRa sensors supplied by ime mobile solutions. These sensors are automatically provisioned via the configuration wizard. Therefore, you do not need to perform complex payload decoding yourself; we have already done this for you. Many other LoRa manufacturers are also supported. Check the documentation to see if your sensor manufacturer is supported.
The following sensors are also available from ime mobile solutions, and their optimal functionality is guaranteed:
Elsys ERS Series: Air Quality (CO2, VOC, temperature, humidity, light)
Elsys EMS Series: Workplace occupancy, door open/close
Advantech Wise Series: Industrial vibrations and temperature measurements
Bosch Parking Lot Sensor: Parking occupancy
Adeunis All LoRa Sensors: Energy measurements (Modbus, analog, digital, pulse)
Enginko All LoRa Sensors: Energy management and air quality (CO2, VOC, fine dust)
TESTED WITH LEADING MANUFACTURERS
ime mobile solutions continuously tests this gateway with leading building management systems. We have validated the LoRa-2-GLT Gateway Extended on Priva Blue-ID, Distech ECY-S1000, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Schneider. Contact vertrieb@ime.de for test reports. This ensures you are well prepared for a successful installation.
The main distinction of the extended version is the freely programmable output via Node-RED. This allows you to use all protocols available in Node-RED, such as Siemens S7 or OPC UA.
PRODUCT SCOPE
LoRa-2-GLT Extended Gateway with built-in configuration wizard and DIN rail clip
One license for one LoRa gateway
Quick guide
One license for 250 sensors
One license for one protocol (from LoRa to BACnet, MQTT, or KNX)
The following is optionally available:
External LoRa gateway. For small buildings, we recommend: Indoor LoRa Gateway Kerlink iZeptocell. For larger buildings, we recommend: Indoor LoRa Gateway Kerlink iFemtocell. For outdoor environments, we recommend: Outdoor LoRa Gateway Kerlink iStation.
If you use 2 or more LoRa gateways with the LoRa-2-GLT Extended Gateway, you will need an additional LoRa Gateway SW license per additional LoRa gateway.
If you need more than 250 sensors, you can order a pack.
If you use more than one protocol, you can order a license per additional protocol. With Node-RED, you are free to configure any protocol conversion yourself.
The optional secure VPN solution (remote access to the gateway) is possible via SmartNetVPN – contact sales for the possibilities.
SOFTWARE ASSURANCE FOR FUTURE-PROOF SOLUTIONS
For the gateway, mandatory software assurance applies. This guarantees optimal functionality in the future with the building management system you choose and the LoRa sensors you select. For this, you pay a small annual fee. This software assurance must be ordered with the gateway.
